Özet

This study explores the values of the sustainable tourism route by revealing the historical heritage of the EuroVelo (EV-8) Mediterranean route. The common cultural values of the routes participating in the EV-8 route are researched and relations are established with the İzmir network. In the study, it is aimed to investigate which countries-cities are located on the EV-8 Mediterranean route, the opportunities awaiting cyclists traveling on the route, the aspects of the route that meet/not meet the potential of the sustainable tourism transportation system, the location of the Izmir network and the sustainable tourism and transportation model as a model. In the study, bicycle transportation and bicycle tourism are examined together, and the EV-8 route as a sustainable tourism transportation system is presented with comprehensive research. After the literature review, the experiences and opinions of the route users are given. The potentials and values of the route are questioned by seeking the opinions of the authorities who have traveled on the EV-8 Mediterranean route by bicycle. As a result, research on the opportunities, infrastructure arrangements and the common historical and cultural heritage values of the Mediterranean network for the tourists who want to travel on the EV-8 Mediterranean route reveal the evaluation of the route as a sustainable tourism transportation system.

Abstract

Bu çalışma EuroVelo (EV-8) Akdeniz rotasının üzerinde barındırdığı tarihi mirası ortaya koyarak sürdürülebilir turizm rotasının değerlerini araştırmaktadır. EV-8 rotasına katılan güzergâhların ortak kültürel değerleri araştırılarak İzmir ağı ile ilişkiler kurulmaktadır. Çalışmada EV-8 Akdeniz rotasında hangi ülkelerin-kentlerin yer aldığı, rotada seyahat eden bisikletli turistleri bekleyen fırsatlar, rotanın sürdürülebilir turizm ulaşım sistemi potansiyelini karşılayan/karşılamayan yönleri, İzmir ağının konumu ve bir model olarak sürdürülebilir turizm ve ulaşım modeli konusunun araştırılması hedeflenmektedir. Çalışmada bisiklet ulaşımı ve bisiklet turizmi birlikte incelenmiş olup sürdürülebilir turizm ulaşım sistemi olarak EV-8 rotası kapsamlı bir araştırma ile sunulmaktadır. Literatür araştırması sonrasında rota kullanıcılarının deneyimleri ve görüşlerine yer verilmektedir. EV-8 Akdeniz rotasında bisiklet ile seyahat etmiş olan yetkililerin görüşlerine başvurularak rotanın potansiyelleri ve değerleri sorgulanmaktadır. Sonuç olarak EV-8 Akdeniz rotasında seyahat etmek isteyen turistleri bekleyen fırsatlar, altyapı düzenlemeleri ve Akdeniz ağının barındırdığı ortak tarihi ve kültürel miras değerleri ile ilgili araştırmalar rotanın sürdürülebilir turizm ulaşım sistemi olarak değerlendirilmesi konusu ortaya koyulmaktadır.
