CONSUMER INTEREST TO ONLINE FOOD ORDER SITES ON GOOGLE TRENDS: THE EXAMPLE OF YEMEKSEPETİ AND GETİR YEMEK

Today, in parallel with the development of technology and the increase in internet use, there is an increase in the level of e-commerce use. Due to the increase in the level of e-commerce, direct and indirect communication channels established with consumers have been moved to the internet environment. Businesses have sought to gain a place in online markets in order to gain and maintain sustainable competitive advantage. Depending on these developments, the more intense use of e-commerce sites and the increase in competition between businesses have become more prominent especially during the pandemic process. This prominence has manifested itself in almost every sector. One of these sectors is the food sector. Consumers' interest in online platforms has intensified within the scope of the measures and restrictions taken during the pandemic process. Intensifying this situation, especially the fear of being worried about crowded areas has been at the forefront. As a result, competition has started to increase in e-commerce sites related to online food ordering. In this study, comparisons were made by focusing on two e-commerce food sites that increased in competition. These e-commerce food sites are Yemeksepeti and Getir Yemek. The aim of the study is to determine the level of interest of consumers in online food ordering sites. In accordance with the purpose of the study, Google trends search engine data was used to examine the level of interest of consumers. The data were also supported by secondary data. Within the framework of the findings obtained from the research, it can be stated that consumers' concerns are reflected in their preferences compared to the Covid-19 period and the pre-Covid-19 period.
