It is a fact accepted by everyone that the most basic need after basic physiological needs is security. Being secure is the provision of public order, internal security and public order in the society where individuals live. It is also important to ensure this order and to feel secure in cases where individuals leave their region for various reasons. In addition to price analysis, tourists also pay attention to whether the region is safe for them when choosing a holiday destination. In addition to terrorist attacks, there are many reasons such as high crime rates, the presence of epidemics or natural disasters as issues affecting security. In choosing a location, individuals will enter the decision-making process by evaluating these security perceptions and other expectations together. In this study, the literature is mentioned and in the first part, the concept of security and the relationship between crime and terrorism, which form the basis of security, are included and the effects of security perceptions on tourism are explained by addressing the security relationship of tourism. In the last section, the province of Muğla, which hosts many touristic destinations and where tourism is intense, will be introduced and the effects of the factors that cause security perceptions in the face of political crises, terrorist attacks, various crimes, epidemics and natural disasters on Muğla tourism and tourists will be evaluated with official data obtained from the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies and the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism.
