Engelli Çocuk Sahibi Kadınların Yaşam Deneyimleri: Farklılaşan Sorumluluklar, Zorluklar ve Toplumsal Destek Beklentileri

Aim; Caring for a child with disabilities presents a significant burden for parents, encompassing physical, emotional, and social aspects. The presence of a child with disabilities in a family profoundly impacts the primary caregivers, particularly mothers, within the context of gender roles. The aim of this study is to identify the life experiences, responsibilities, challenges, and expectations for social support of women who have children with disabilities. Method; This research, designed according to a qualitative research framework, is based on in-depth interviews conducted with 23 women who have children with disabilities, using a purposive sampling method. Results; According to the findings of the study, the stress and emotional pressure experienced by women with children with disabilities have significant effects on their physical and psychological health. Additionally, the caregiving responsibilities substantially shape the daily lives, social activities, employment, and career development of these mothers. Conclusion; There is a need for more inclusive and supportive policies that take into account the needs of womens who assume caregiving responsibilities for children with disabilities. Such policies will not only enhance the quality of life for these mothers but also contribute to the well-being of the entire family and support gender equality
